Gauge Marks on Dark Woodgrain UPVC Window
« on: 18 March 2010 12:52 pm »
Please can anyone help. I let my home and after the tenant moved out I noticed the lounge window would not open but looks like my tenant had tried to lever it open with a screwdriver leaving gauge marks on the frame which I don`t think look nice.
Safestyle came out and replaced window lock but said there was nothing you could do for marks. I thought you may be able to replace damaged section but he said you would need a new window. I cannot afford a new window can anyone suggest means of getting it repaired. I live in North Notts.
Thanks  :(

If the frame is just dented, use a hot air gun to warm the plastic. PVCu has a memory so as its heated it will gradually go back to its original shape. For larger dents use a metal spatula to help push the plastic back in shape as its heated. When using a hot air gun hold at least 15cm away from the plastic and keep moving the gun to prevent burning of the uPVC.
