Can anybody help with how to unlock the window.  It appears that a bolt or something has dropped down that prevents the window opening.  We've removed the handle and tried that way but can't get to the mechanism.  How do we remove the glass?  Thanks.

For some windows, remove the black rubber gasket on the inside or outside first using a paint scraper. If the gasket won't release (on some its  designed not to) then start removing the pvcu beading straight away with the same tool. Insert the paint scraper between the window frame and the beading then lever the scaper back popping the beading out section by section.

once the beading is removed and the glass out, continue to gemy the window until released.

Before the glass is removed try:

Threading a thin plastic strap through between the sash and the frame then pulling to one side to move the locking points and free the window.

With the handle removed try inserting a metal hook into the locking mechanism inside the window and turning it the same direction the handle turns to unlock the window.

Here's a site where you can find a large range of replacement window locks: https://www.upvc-hardware.co.uk/locks-gearing/espagnolette-upvc-window-locks
